About Us
The Least – the Last – the Lost
The “LEAST”
- Women, children and the poor often find themselves in a position as the “least” in many cultures — with the lowest status, the fewest opportunities, and the least control over their lives and destinies.
The “LAST”
- While there are many needs among those who have had the opportunity to hear the gospel, we choose to focus our efforts and resources primarily on those unreached groups of people who have not heard His Name — “the last” who have yet to hear the Good News.
The “LOST”
- It is the more than 2 billion people who have yet to hear that will be our primary focus and concern as we serve a God without limits, to meet unlimited needs, with our limited resources.
World Encounter serves the working poor in the developing world through faith-based, holistic community development. We strive to nurture personal and community transformation, economic and social development, and peace filled relationships with family and neighbors.
We work along-side the poor, providing microloans to help women work their way out of poverty. By providing micro-credit, women are enabled to develop small businesses to support their families, place their children in school and improve family health.
Vision & Values
- Reaching the least — the last — the lost among the remaining Unreached People Groups of the world is our first priority.
- Short term outreach in the context of long term relationships sustains lasting results.
- Ministry flows out of relationships.
- Cross cultural outreach is a life-changing experience. It can also be a journey of discovery of your God given gifts and talents.
- Where your talents and the needs of the world cross — is where you discover your vocation.
- As learners and servants we reflect the nature of Jesus and his kingdom.
Through short term missions we strive to serve indigenous leaders who have a vision for community development, leadership training and creative ministries of service.
World Encounter provides training and ministry opportunities preparing people for cross cultural outreach and leadership. Short term outreach opportunities involve team members in hands-on work through community development projects, friendship evangelism, children’s ministry, and leadership development and training.
Cross Cultural Orientation and team building are primary training goals, preparing our short term teams for cross cultural service. The Cross Cultural Orientation, an immersion experience, is designed to prepare teams for cross cultural service.
World Encounter serves in partnership with local ministries in each country. Our goal is to support, encourage, and participate in the vision God has given them to reach their own people for Christ.
World Encounter is committed to:
- Proclaiming the finished work of Jesus.
- Operating out of a scriptural context of grace.
- The enabling power of the Holy Spirit for the work of reconciliation.
- Serving the body of Christ across denominational lines.
- Challenging all Christians to participate in the Great Commission to disciple the nations.
